Trust through clarity

Know what a profile says. Know what it does not.

STEP organizes public information to make discovery and comparison easier. A profile is not an endorsement, regulatory decision or guarantee of current fit.

The short version

  • We organize the information.
  • We label what is not provided.
  • You confirm what matters now.

How we present information

Four principles behind every profile.

The aim is useful transparency: enough structure to compare, without turning limited information into certainty.

Structured consistently

The same practical categories are presented across profiles so people can compare without decoding a different format every time.

Missing stays missing

When a detail has not been provided, STEP does not infer it from similar profiles or fill the gap with a likely answer.

Claims stay attributable

Descriptions of approach, experience and services are presented as information supplied by or publicly associated with the supervisor.

Current details get confirmed

Availability, fees, delivery and eligibility can change. Profiles support discovery; direct confirmation supports a decision.

The profile model

Useful details, in a predictable place.

Consistent categories make differences easier to see while leaving room for a supervisor to describe their own work.

01
Professional identity
Name, pronouns when supplied, designations and the regulator or professional body shown in the source information.
02
Supervision practice
Approach, formats, professional stages supported and areas a supervisor says they can work with.
03
Practical arrangements
Location, virtual or in-person delivery, fee information, session length and availability when provided.
04
Contact route
The public method the supervisor identifies for initial inquiries.

What to confirm directly

The details that can change—or depend on you.

  • Current availability and wait time
  • Fees, taxes, invoicing and cancellation terms
  • Format, frequency and session length
  • Supervisor eligibility for your specific purpose
  • Experience relevant to your work and learning goals
  • Confidentiality, records and communication expectations

STEP does not determine regulatory eligibility.

CRPO and other applicable regulators determine whether requirements are met. A listing on STEP does not mean a supervisor or arrangement will be accepted for registration purposes.

A profile is the beginning

Use comparison to prepare a better conversation.

Shortlist people whose public information aligns with your needs, then ask direct questions before deciding.
