Accessibility is part of the interface, not an add-on.
Keyboard access
Navigation, controls and forms are designed to work without a mouse, with a visible focus indicator.
Readable contrast
Text and controls use strong contrast, while colour is not intended to carry meaning on its own.
Clear structure
Headings, landmarks, labels and page titles help people navigate with assistive technology.
Motion preferences
Animation and smooth scrolling are reduced when a device requests reduced motion.
Known limits
Improvement is an ongoing responsibility.
External websites and documents linked from STEP are maintained by other organizations and may offer a different accessibility experience.
When reporting a barrier, it helps to include:
- The page address or feature you were using
- What you were trying to do
- The browser, device or assistive technology involved
- The format or accommodation that would help
Share only what you are comfortable providing. You do not need to disclose a disability or diagnosis to report a barrier.
