Privacy notice

Your information should be handled with care.

This page explains the information STEP may receive through this website and the choices available to you.

01

Information you choose to provide

STEP may receive personal information when you submit a contact message, subscribe for updates, create an account, verify student, alumni or CRPO status, apply to an affiliate space, or apply to create a supervisor profile. Depending on the form, this may include your name, contact details, university and program, institutional email address, student or CRPO identifier, and the professional information you enter.

Do not include client names, clinical records, personal health information or other confidential case details in STEP forms.

02

Accounts, review and community content

Account and application information is used by STEP Admin to review eligibility before paid access is offered. Student and CRPO identifiers are kept out of public profiles and member-facing pages. They are stored in encrypted form in the application database.

If you participate in a STEP community, your display name, profile image and the discussions or replies you submit may be visible to other approved members of that community. Do not post client-identifying or confidential clinical information.

03

Affiliate verification and private spaces

An affiliate application may use an institutional email address to confirm eligibility for a private, affiliate-specific space. STEP records the affiliation role, selected program, verification outcome, consent version and the minimum administrative information needed to review and manage access. A separate contact email may be used after eligibility has been verified.

STEP does not request or accept unofficial transcripts for the current affiliate pilot. If email verification is unavailable, STEP Admin may review another limited form of evidence directly; do not upload confidential academic, clinical or client records.

Affiliate directories, discussions and connection requests are restricted to approved participants and authorized STEP administrators. A connection request is shared only with its sender, intended recipient and STEP Admin. Affiliate access does not create a university partnership, endorsement, placement or supervisory relationship.

04

Membership billing

When live billing is enabled, Stripe will process payment and billing-address information under its own privacy practices. STEP does not receive or store your complete card number.

STEP stores the customer and subscription references, selected membership plan, payment status and relevant renewal or cancellation dates needed to operate access and support billing inquiries.

05

How submitted information may be used

Information may be used to respond to an inquiry, manage a subscription, review a supervisor application, maintain a public profile where applicable, operate the website and protect the service from misuse.

Sending a message to STEP does not create a therapist–client or supervisor–supervisee relationship.

06

Technical information and cookies

The website may process standard technical information needed to deliver pages, maintain security, prevent abuse and remember a session. Essential cookies may be used where a feature requires them. Your browser provides controls for cookies, but disabling essential storage may affect some forms or account features.

07

Saved and compared profiles in your browser

The Save and Compare features store only public supervisor IDs in your browser’s local storage. They do not store case information, clinical notes or the answers you enter in a form.

These selections are not synchronized to an account. You can clear them within STEP or by clearing this site’s browser storage.

08

Access, correction and deletion requests

You may contact STEP to ask about personal information you submitted or to request a correction or deletion. Some information may need to be retained where required for security, legal or record-keeping purposes. STEP may need to confirm your identity before completing a request.

09

External sites

STEP links to supervisor websites, regulators and other external resources. Their privacy practices are separate from this page. Review the privacy information on an external site before submitting personal information there.
